Project "Improving Quality Services and Infrastructure in Lithuanian Courts"
The project aims to create a more efficient and effective justice system.
Project results:
- The development of the Judges and Judicial Candidates Information System (TERIS), which enables applicants and judges to electronically compile a curriculum vitae, and to prepare, submit and receive documents for the judicial candidates' examination. It also enables participation in judicial selection, the organisation and administration of the Judicial Candidates' Examination, the Selection of Judicial Candidates and the Permanent Judicial Performance Assessment Commission;
- Access control systems were upgraded in 16 courts, separating public and private areas of the courts in order to improve security for both court visitors and court staff;
- The renovation of the public areas of the Vilnius City District Court and Kaunas District Court was completed to improve the conditions for the service of persons in the courts;
- 6 representatives of the Lithuanian judiciary (judges, NTA staff) and 2 representatives of the Norwegian judiciary took part in a study visit to Canada in April. During the study visit, the participants were introduced to the Canadian judicial system, developed professional competences of judges and judicial staff and shared good professional practices;
- A series of training sessions for judges and judicial staff on leadership, strategic leadership, management competences, trial management, quality judgment writing and other topics was completed. A total of 2 489 judges and judicial staff were trained.
Project implementation period - 15 June 2020 - 30 April 2024.
Project value - more than €6.7 million.
The project is financed from the European Economic Area Financial Mechanism for the years 2014–2021.
